As the country celebrated the Valentines Day today to mark the affection of love birds, volunteers of the Hindu organization Bhajarang Dal conducted marriages for six pairs of lovers in Hyderabad.
Bhajarang Dal volunteers camped in several parks in Hyderabad holding Mangalasutras since this morning and kept vigil on love birds loitering around. Raising slogans of Jai Sriram, they chased and caught hold of six couples and forcibly conducted marriages for them in the name of Lord Rama.
Some of the love birds cleverly escaped from the clutches of the Bhajarang Dal volunteers who openly opposed the celebration of Valentines Day on the ground that its violates the tenets of Indian culture.
Later, police arrested some activists of the Bhajarang Dal for forcibly conducting marriages for some couples. Mr. Bharat Vamsi, president of the Hyderabad unit of the Bhajarang Dal warned police not to provoke them with arrests. (JUBS)
