Higher officials of the revenue department have decided to review the land mutations authorized by Navin Mittal who worked as the District Collector of Hyderabad from 2008 to 2010.
As a section of the media reported recently that Mittal had authorized illegal mutations of government land worth Rs.2030 Cr to private persons, the top officials of the revenue department had asked the lower officials to prepare a list of mutations done by Mittal who is presently posted as the special commissioner at GHMC.
Acting on the instructions, Hyderabad Joint Collector and some MROs dug out the old records and found several mutations in favour of big business men and industrialists. The list of personalities in whose favour mutations were given included super star Krishna.
It is learnt that Mittal had given mutations for 18 acres worth Rs. 432 Cr in Tirumalgiri Mandal in favour business man Malpani, 9.20 acres of land at Shaikpet worth Rs.456 Cr in favour of Padmalaya Studios owned by super star Krishna, father of Prince Mahesh Babu and 37000 square meters of controversial land at Nampally worth Rs.222 Cr in favour of Dargha Shah Khamos
While these are only a few unauthorized mutations given in favour of top business men and celebrities, Mittal had given several other mutations in favour of several individuals at Shaiakpet, Mushirabad, Kandigal and Asifnagar.
The revenue officials have now sent the file to the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) seeking review of the mutations given by Mittal during his regime as District Collector. If the CCLA authorizes review of these mutations, the officials may cancel them. (J)
