Mopidevi seeks court's permission over presidential poll

Former minister Mopidevi Venkatarama, who became the first minister to get arrested in the country, has applied to the CBI Court to seek permission to vote in the presidential elections. The Nampally CBI Court, which accepted the petition of Mopidevi, is yet to deliver its say. It may be noted that Mopidevi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths much before they arrested Jaganmohan Reddy in connection with illegal assets case. The CBI sleuths held Mopidevi responsible for signing a controversial Government Order (GO), which allegedly benefited industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad.

Nimmagadda Prasad has been put at Chanchalguda jail and he resigned to his ministry following his arrest. Mopidevi, who has been in the judicial custody, now wants to exercise his vote as the legislator for presidential election. It may be noted that the prime accused in the illegal assets case to approached the judiciary and sought permission to exercise his vote.
