Union Minister to fly to train accident spot

Railway Authorities received a jolt early Monday Morning when the Tamil Nadu Express from Delhi to Chennai met with a fire accident, at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa is expected to reach the accident spot by 3 pm, today. The Minister at Delhi, said that there shall be complete probe on the accident which claimed many lives and left several injured. He also said that an order has been passed in this regards to the concerned.

Most trains on this busy route have been stranded midway and the authorities assure earlier relief to passengers. Rescue teams are working on a war footing with the Nellore Collector overseeing the operations.

S-11 Coach of the Train was engulfed in flames at around 4.30 am when a gate-man spotted the fire. He instantly alerted the authorities and the train was brought to a halt. S-11 had 72 occupants, of them  17 people were from Delhi, 11 from Bhopal, 28 from Vijayawada, 7 from Warangal, 6 from Jhansi, three from Agra and one from Nagpur. Five of the injured are being treated at Bollineni and six are being treated in Jayabharath hospitals in Nellore town. Bodies are beyond recognition and only the railway charts must give their whereabouts say onlookers.
