Mala Mahanadu today tried to lay siege to NTR Trust Bhavan in Hyderabad against the decision taken by TDP to campaign for SC categorization.  The activists of Mala Mahanadu staged a protest in front of party head office and alleged that TDP was trying to bring in a rift between malas and madigas. They have also demanded Chandrababu Naidu to withdraw the proposal being made by TDP. The police, however, took them into custody when they tried to barge into the office.

It may be recalled that Chandrababu Naidu, TDP supremo, recently made a resolution stating that the party should be taking out campaign in favour of a constitutional amendment to bring into effect SC categorization. In case, the proposal gets approved, madigas (who are in large number in Telangana region) would get more priority over malas.  It has to be mentioned here that Usha Mehra Commission, which was set up 2008 to study classification of scheduled castes for purposes of reservations, favoured the classification of SC s and mentioned that a necessary amendment should be made to bring this into effect.
