TDP leaders stage massive dharna on assembly premises

A team of TDP MLA s and MLC s have staged a massive dharna on the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly premises demanding the state government for providing seven hours of electricity at a stretch besides ceasing the unannounced power cuts in the state. Prior to this dharna, the TDP team met at the party legislature office wherein the members reportedly discussed the future course of action on the power crisis.  As mentioned earlier, the TDP leaders tried to march towards Mahatma Gandhi statue to stage a protest there. The efforts of TDP leaders went in vain as the police, who were pressed into the swift action, obstructed the leaders from arriving at the statue.

The team, which was irked by police's action of preventing them from reaching Gandhi's statue, sat on the assembly premises and pitched their voices in support of their demand. It may be noted that TDP has been relentlessly fighting the power cuts' issue in the state. The party even joined hands with the left and decided to stage a protest in front of Jantar Mantar in Delhi on the same issue. The government is yet to respond on the present agitation. The political observers, however, said government might most likely come out with a press conference today wherein it would discuss the steps taken to tackle electricity crisis and reportedly ask the opposition parties to be supportive.
