Dr Manmohan Singh is the most revered Prime Minister after our First Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Strange but true, his esteem is neatly explained by his second consecutive time in office, after a five year rule. A rare feat that was only accomplished by the First PM. Dr Singh known for his integrity and sincerity had never been questioned of involvement in allegations. But the only issue that bothered the oppositions was his silence to what was happening around.
Yet the financial whiz was a pioneer in vision for reforms. Dr Singh was the first to set the reforms-pendulum oscillating in 90's under the aegis of the then Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao. Much was expected of him as he assumed the PMO, but the first eight years were not upto his mark. Only recently his hard stick formula was unleashed and instant gains, with soaring sensex was visible. The wizard has not lost his magical touch, say financial observers.
The great visionary and the 'father of reforms celebrates his birthday today. Dr Singh turns 80. He was born in 1932 at Gah which is right now, part of Pakistan. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
