Non-bailable arrest warrant (NBW) has been issued on liquor baron and chairman of Kingfisher Airlines, Vijay Mallya. Hyderabad Metropolitan Court has issued this warrant in connection with a cheque bounce case filed by GMR Group.
The group complained that Vijay Mallya didn't pay the user charges for using the Shamshabad International Airport. In its complaint, GMR Group has mentioned that in total it Vijay Mallya owed 10 crore rupees to them. The court initially served notice on Vijay Mallya but he filed a petition that he couldn't attend the court since he was in foreign country. The advocate of the petitioner appealed to the court that his petition be turned down. Accordingly, the court issued NBW on Vijay Mallya.
It may be noted that Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines has been in the news for the past few years for all wrong reasons. And finally now chairman of that company is facing the arrest.
