In a major jolt to a television group, the law minister Salman Khurshid's wife filed a civil defamation suit against TV Today group in Delhi High Court on Friday. Ms. Louise Khurshid alleged that the television group aired derogatory stories against their NGO in their news channels Headlines Today (English) and Aaj Tak (Hindi). Ms. Khurshid sought Rs.100 crore towards the damages.

It may be noted that the news channels ran stories on the NGO, which was run by Louise Khurshid. The report mentioned that the union social welfare ministry granted Rs. 71.50 lakh to Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust (run by Khurshid) to distribute tricycles to the physically challenged in Uttar Pradesh. Aaj Tak's sting operation also alleged that the NGO run by Khurshid siphoned off this money and said it even forged signatures of government officials in the state.
