Owing to profound tense situations over the proposed Samara Deeksha, there are hopeful signs that the home ministry will finally oblige to the request laid down by the Telangana activists to go ahead with their peaceful protest. On Sunday  (January 27), as many leaders were courting arrests after taking up the 36 hours protest from 10 am, the home ministry finally has given a green signal for this peaceful protest. Finally the Samara Deeksha commences at Indira park in the afternoon after receiving the permission of the government.

During the course of the day  senior activists including Ballard Gaddar, educationalist Chukka Ramaiah, Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, Dr Kishan and many others met the home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. They requested the minister to grant permission for the peaceful protest. Instantly the leader spoke to the police chief over the issue. What transpired in the conversation is unknown but the government might announce its nod to the protest, declare sources. The leaders also affirmed that the minister wanted them to submit a request to the police chief in this regards.

However the ruling party attracted the ire of the oppositions on the issue. The Telangana TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao from Warangal, lashed out at the stepmother treatment meted out to the T activists. He said if a 'Jai Andhra meet' could be allowed in Rajahmundry why not a Samara Deeksha.

On the other hand BJP honcho of the state Kishan Reedy also urged that the government must permit the protest. As a part of the T JAC the leader was obstructed in the morning from proceedings to the venue by the police. Hence along with his followers the leader started the protest at the party office as per the schedule.

Similarly leaders of parties under the T JAC sat in protest at various places in the city. Many prominent leaders were also arrested by the police. With the permission for the protest on the anvil peace would be restored in the city, feel many. (Wishesh AarKay)
