Senior Congress leader from Telangana, K Kesava Rao, MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and Vivek had a tough time at the Samara Deeksha held at Indira park in Hyderabad. The 3 leaders had gone over to the venue at 11 pm, Sunday (January 27) to express their solidarity with the protesting leaders.
However irked for not resigning over the T issue, activists attacked the car, in which they arrived. The glass panes were damaged and the leaders were in a desperate situation when the TRS leaders ran down from the dais to rescue them.
TRS leader K T Ramarao received them and pacified the activists. He said attacking those who had come to express solidarity, was not correct.
Another TRS leader Harish Rao told the activists to turn their ire on Congress leaders like Jana Reddy, Dhanam Nagendra and Mukesh Goud who were betraying Telangana.
The three were led to the dais by the TRS leaders. Addressing the protestors, Ponnam said that it was not right to stop them. Instead Seemandhra leaders like Lagadapati Rajagopal, Undavalli Arun Kumar and Jagga Reddy must be questioned for their statements against the separate state formation.
On the other hand, Vivek said that there was no need to doubt their integrity towards the T issue. Adding that they were sincere in their struggle.
Samara Deekhsa which initially was not given permission by the home ministry citing security reasons, was finally obtained by prolonged persuasion by senior members of the Telangana political Joint Action Committee. The 36 hour that was to start at 10 am on Sunday started officially only in the afternoon. (Wishesh AarKay)
