Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C-20, which soared into the sky today at 06:01 pm has successful kept the oceanographic satellite SARAL into the orbit. President Pranab Mukherjee, chief minister Kiran Kumar and Governor ESL Narasimhan have watched as the rocket was lifted from the launching pad.
The launch was all excited and PSLV was going on in its perfect direction as set by the scientists. By 06.04 pm, the launch vehicle crossed 500 kilometres. After crossing four phases, the PSLV has successfully put the satellite into the orbit. At 06: 18 pm, PSLV crossed fourth phase. Within fraction of seconds, SARAL satellite was separated from PSLV. Along with SARAL, there were six more commercial micro satellites.
As the launch got successful, SHAR was filled with applause. ISRO chairman, Radha Krishna-who was in smiles-has briefed about the successful launch to the President Pranab Mukherjee.
The President Pranab Mukherjee, who addressed the scientists at SHAR immediately after the success of launch of PSLV C-20, has said that he was delighted to witness the launch of this satellite launch vehicle. He said that the launch was meticulously executed. He congratulated ISRO for the success of PSLV C-20. He has also said that SARAL satellite would not only look into oceanographic currents but also birds' migration. Further, he said that this launch epitomizes the relationship between France and India.
The launch of PSLV C-20 successfully is one of the pride moments to India as it not only kept SARAL into orbit but also another six small commercial satellites.
