A discussion today took place in the assembly over electricity issues including frequent power cuts. TDP, which has been raising its voice, against the same made its voice heard across the globe by taking on the government.
TDP leader Payyavula Keshav has lashed out at Kiran sarkar over electricity issues. He has questioned the government whether it would be fair on its part to do injustice to the rural areas in terms of power supply while the taxes charged upon them were on par with cities. He has also said that farmers were unable to lead a happy life since government was giving power supply in the mid-night. Also, he has questioned whether any company would come to invest in the state looking at the electricity issue.
Further, Payyavula has said that Andhra Pradesh was way ahead of Gujarat in terms of power supply when TDP was in regime and now the situation has turned worse. He has also said that current charges were heavy and stressed students were studying under candle light. Adding sarcasm to his speech, Payyavula has said that it would be better if Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi would give candles and hand fans on subsidy.
All in all, discussion on electricity cuts has rocked the assembly today. TDP certainly made its point and kept Congress-which is already facing severe criticism over several issues-in a fix. Since common men are really getting bugged up with frequent power cuts, whatever TDP made in the assembly will easily attract the common voters, said observers. If the same thing happens, how will Congress manage to win back its vote bank is a million dollar question!
