Congress senior leader Subbirami Reddy's desire to contest from Vishakapatnam Lok Sabha seat seems to have gone with the wind as the leader himself came before the media and said that the present MP from Vizag, Purandareshwari was like his sister and hence he would not contest from Vishakapatnam. It is known that Subbirami Reddy was very keen in contesting from Vishakapatnam constituency. In fact, he was he told in February 2013 that he would contest from Vishakapatnam area for Lok Sabha in 2014 elections. Further, he even mentioned that Purandareshwari, the present MP, would be given ticket from Narsipatnam. Suddenly, he flipped flopped.
What could be the reason?
The observers said that Subbirami Reddy might have been told by Congress high command to withdraw from Vizag MP ticket race as they apparently want Purandareshwari to continue from that region for the next term too. It is known that Purandareshwari has become successful in taking forward many developmental programmes of Congress party in Vizag. This could be one of the reasons as to why Congress high command was so particular about the seat, added the observers.
Whatever could be the reason, finally Subbirami Reddy backed out from Vizag ticket race. Will it impact the party? Will he be given ticket from other constituency? These are some of the questions that are being widely debated. Time alone seems to have answers to these questions!
