Saraswati Pushkarams at Kaleswaram

Officials are gearing up for the preparations for the Saraswati Pushkarams that is decided to be observed for 12 days from 30th May to 10th June at Kaleswaram, Karimnagar District. Pranahita from Adilabad District merges with River Godavari at that place and River Saraswati joins as a under current that is not visible the way Saraswati is not visible at Allhabad Triveni Sangamam where Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati merge and the place of which is believed by Hindus as a sacred one to have a holy dip on festive days.

The temple place of Kaleswaram is a holy one with the prominent deity Mukteswara Swamy among many other temples. The specialty in the temple is that it has two Lingams for Shiva and Kala sharing same Panavattam. This place is considered as one of the 3 Jyothirlingas of Shiva. Other two are Draksharamam in East Godavari District and Srisailam in Kurnool District. The three Jyothirlingas thus are on three sides of the State.

Another specialty of the place is that whatever water is poured in Abhishekam on the Shiva Lingas will not fill to over flow. It is believed that the waters from under ground tunnel goes to merge in to Godavari waters.

Expecting a large crowd in the Pushkara time owing to the summer holidays being Devi Saraswati is the deity for wisdom and a favorite Goddess for the students, arrangements are planned in a large way to ensure peaceful passing of the occasion without any hardships to the visitors from the State and also neighboring States of Chattisgarh and Maharashtra.
