The Group of Ministers formed to deal with the formation of Telangana and to address the problems and repercussions that will arise in the process of bifurcation is going have its first meeting on 11th of this month. The meeting will be conducted in the office of the Union Home Ministry. As A.K.Antony is not well, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is going preside over the meeting.
The HR Minister Pallam Raju resigned yesterday opposing creation of Telangana. He tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. After that he did not attend the Cabinet meeting. Following it Pallam Raju is removed today from the GoM created for the formation of Telangana.
The GoM is reconstituted by removing some more ministers and by inducting some in their places. The Cabinet after approving the Telangana State formation on October 3, it announced a GoM to look after the process of formation of Telangana with 10 Union Ministers.
Law Minister Kapil Sibal, Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat, Urban Development Minister Kamalnath, Road Transport Minister Fernandez, Power Minister Jyothiraditya Scindia and Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Aluwalia were also removed from GoM.
A.K.Antony, Gulam Nabi Azad, Veerappa Moily and Ramesh are inducted in the GoM.
Now the present Members of GoM for the formation of Telangana are Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas M. Veerappa Moily and Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh total seven in number.
