Ravuri Bharadwaja, famous Telugu writer and recipient of Jnanpith Award breathed his last at 8.30 p.m. on Friday night at Hyderabad. He was 87. He had been suffering from old age ailments like diabetice, kidney related problems and hyper tension. He received nation’s highest honor for the literary work Jnanpith Awards in 2012. His Telugu Novel “Pakudu Rallu” brought him fame.
Ravuri was admitted in Care Hospital on 14th of this month where he had been undergoing treatment. Doctors have stated on Thursday itself that his condition was critical. His body has been shifted to his house in Vijayanagar Colony.
Ravuri Bharadwaja’s writings were appreciated by many writers and critics. Main subject of his writings used to be the practical problems of downtrodden. His followers and known writers thronged to his residence to get a last look.
He lost his wife in 1986. He left four sons and one daughter behind.
Last rites of Ravuri will be held today in the afternoon.
