The high level meeting held by the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to review the situation in the State following heavy rains is concluded. The Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy revealed the results of the meeting to the media.
Raghuveera Reddy told that the weather reports say that the rains may continue for two more days. He said that 10 people died so far due to heavy rains in the State. Four persons died in Prakasham district and 6 died in Hyderabad and other areas. He said that the passengers in the bus stranded in the flood waters are rescued by the locals and revenue officers.
Raghuveera Reddy said that NDRF men will be pressed in to service if the situation demands it. He said that the Chief Minister gave orders to the Collectors to be on vigil for two more days.
As far as the damage at a quick look is concerned, Rice, corn and Cotton fields were damaged in about 2 lakhs hectors. 300 houses are either partially or completely collapsed. He advised the people living in old constructions in the dilapidated condition to evacuate and go to safer places for some time. He said that already 6500 people living in the low level areas have gone to take shelter in 19 rescue camps.
