Soon after the Parliament session started for the second day today the Parliament paid tributes to departed former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela who passed away last night.
The leaders present remembered Nelson Mandela and his greatness. The Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde praised his fight from jail against racism. He reminded that India recognized his greatness and honored him with Bharat Ratna. He is the only non-Indian to be honored in 1990 with the India’s highest honor Bharat Ratna.
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said that it is not a small thing to spend 28 years in jail. He not only spent in jail but fought from the jail against racism in South Africa.
Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav said that he was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s peace movement and he was a good follower of Gandhi in fighting against racism. Mandela pardoned all the whites who imprisoned him, after he came out of the prison.
After paying tributes to Nelson Mandela the Parliament was adjourned to Monday.
