Telanagana Bill on Its Way to President's Office

The Union Ministry has completed all the required formalities to send the draft bill on the bifurcation of the State to the office of the President.

The President Pranab Mukherjee is in West Bengal.  He is expected to reach Delhi on Sunday.  It is heard that the President after perusal of the draft bill will send it to the AP State Assembly.  The President will give a time frame for the Assembly to respond which may be between 20 to 69 days as did by the President’s office during the bifurcation of the five states between 1960 to 2000.  The average time given so far is 40 days.

After Assembly’s consideration of the bill with its opinion on it, the bill will then goes to the Cabinet from where it will go to the President again and finally reaches the Parliament.  The time for the completion of the formalities as above depends on the time allotted by the President to the Assembly.

In case the Bill cannot be introduced in the winter sessions, the Parliament may have special sessions in January 2014.
