Cabinet clears T-Bill; 32 amendments made

The union cabinet on Friday night cleared the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill aka Telangana Bill and over 32 amendments were made in the bill as per the suggestions from Seemandhra union ministers and BJP party. The cabinet meeting was lasted for more than two hours and was followed by the Congress Core Committee meeting. Sonia Gandhi too gave nod for the amendments suggested and the Ministry of Home Affairs is likely send the T-Bill to President of India today.

The important amendments in the bill are that the Hyderabad will remain the joint capital for ten years term and Governor will look after the law and order in the capital city. However, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has questioned this special powers to Governor and objected it. Seemandhra union ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Pallam Raju have demanded for the Union Territory status to Hyderabad but another minister Jaipal Reddy declined this proposal. Special package to Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions and a committee will decide the new capital to the rest of Andhra Pradesh within a time bound.

The Telangana Bill is likely to get tabled in Rajya Sabha on 12th of this month and even this is a strategy by Congress has less number of Seemandhra MPs represent the Upper house. If everything goes smooth by 14th or 15th Lok Sabha too will pass the Telangana bill.
