The Himachal Pradesh tragedy that washed away 24 engineering students is still making the headlines as the bodies of missing students are yet to be discovered. However when dug deep into the reasons of this tragedy, few shocking facts were revealed.
Apparently, the news came out that the Larji dam project authorities did not issue any sort of notice to the local people before lifting the dam gates. But why did the dam authorities did so ? Well here is the answer, the authorities identified that the water level is increasing in the dam and it would lead to wash out of a village. So the authorities are heard to be in a tie up with local sand mafia and intimated them that they are lifting the dam gates. Also the local sand mafia made a way for themselves into the river to collect the sand whenever it is possible. The students without knowledge used this way to go deep into the river and paid the price.
However, students who escaped from the mishap said that they have consulted the local people before going to deep into the river but they were warned to be alert. The water level increased at jet speed and resulted in washing away of 24 students including a faculty.
The Himachal government so far has not asked for any probe into the issue but the court ordered the government to submit a report by June 16th. Will the culprits be punished severely or not, Himachal court will decide it.
