AP still hopes for Special Status

The Andhra Pradesh government is hopeful that it will get the special category status to it. Though the central government is not showing any sort of sign, leaders from AP and  central cabinet are expecting an announcement regarding this. AP government official spokesperson and Aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju met Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed on the special status matter, this afternoon.

The 14th Finance Commission is yet to submit its report to the Central government and a decision on special status will all depend on this very report. Many leaders have made statements earlier but gradually, all the leaders, ministers are slowly moving away from the topic. Recently Union minister Venkaiah Naidu was asked the same question but he said, the investments are in line for the AP state, so there won't be any kind of status. Well, the reason being, many states too are demanding special status and on the other hand Tamil Nadu is opposing special status to AP and also wrote to PM Modi in this regards. Even the new born Telangana state is demanding special status and at this moment the centre is in no mood to grant special status to any state in the country.

However, the central government is considering to grant funds and exemptions to AP state which could it the pressure on it.
