US President Barack Obama will be witnessing the Indian Republic Day celebrations on January 26th 2015, when he will be on an official visit to the country. This is the first time a US President will join the Republic Day celebrations and on a personal request by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Obama accepted his invitation.
The White House confirmed that Obama received the invite and had accepted it as well. Obama is also the first US President to tour India for the second time during his office. The President will meet with the Prime Minister and Indian officials to strengthen and expand the US-India strategic partnership.
On the other hand, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked US President Barack Obama to take up the Kashmir issue with the Narendra Modi government during his visit.
