Ex-AAP leader to campaign for BJP

Former Aam Aadmi Party leader from Maharashtra, Shazia Ilmi will be campaigning on behalf of Bharatiya Janata Party for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections which are slated on February 7th. Ilmi quit the AAP last year due to lack of democracy in the party and for obstructing her growth within the party.  She was caught seeking votes from people who belong to her community but defended her stand in this issue.

Shazia Ilmi contested the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections but lost to BJP candidate by a close margin of 320 votes and then she contested for the Lok Sabha polls. From Ghaziabad, Imli was up against BJP's VK Singh but faced a humiliating defeat by losing her security deposit.

However, it is unclear whether Ilmi will join the saffron party or not but a party insider said, she will campaign for BJP in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party remained unavailable to comment on this.
