1200 crores production unit in Sri City

Along with Pepsico chairperson and chief executive officer Indra Nooyi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated company's Rs.1200 crore Greenfield production unit, at Sri City in Chittoor district on Friday.

This production unit which is spread over 86 acres is the largest manufacturing facility provider among the beverages in the country and also it is the first such facility in the 14 years. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nooyi said the plant would be made a hub for sourcing mango pulp for the benefit of 32000 farmers across the state.     

PepsiCo is investing in India for more than 25 years and as we move on further for the next 25 years, the commitment is going to be much stronger than ever” she added, indicating that Andhra Pradesh is one of the richest consumer belts in the country.

She further said “The plant has one production line now, which will be increased to nine in the next five years,” and said that 23 per cent of employees at the new plant were women, which was double the company’s average.      

Chandrababu Naidu assured that Chennai-Nellore-Tirupathi region would be developed as industrial region and he also promised an airport at Nellore at the end of the speech.

D. Shivakumar Pepsico India chairman and CEO, Sri City chairman Srini Raju and Managing Director Sanna Reddy were few who took part in the inauguration function.

Hope Pepsico stabilizes its name as the largest manufacturing facility and also this Production unit comes out giving good profits to the farmers and helping them to improve their livelihood also.
