Tremors were felt across major swathes of North India, including Delhi, at about 12.40 pm today. Early reports suggest a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale.

Tremors were also felt in and around New Delhi and NCR region at 12:30 pm. Other areas in North India and East India including West Bengal, Bihar and Assam felt the impact of the earthqauke.

The epicentre of the earthquake is again Nepal, which is still recovering from the April 23 disaster.

Kathmandu was devastated just weeks ago by a  massive earthquake in which nearly 7,000 people were killed. Tremors were also felt across Northern India at the time, with nearly 50 people killed in Bihar.
