On Sunday evening, Revanth Reddy was caught hold by the police red handed, when the latter was bribing a nominated member of the Assembly representing the Anglo-Indian community, Elvis Stephenson.
The news was out into media after a video footage which showed the conversation of Revanth Reddy and Stephenson, been shot at the Lallaguda, in the house of Revanth’s son, was found to the ACB officials.
After finding the footage, the officials shifted Revanth to the ACB headquarters t at Banjara Hills, where his statement was recorded, before he was taken to a Magistrate.
Trap was laid - ACB Khan
On the other side, ACB Director General A.K. Khan, denied the charge that ACB had released video footage of the conversation between Mr. Reddy and Mr. Stephenson. “We have the evidence with us and nothing has been made available to the media. Our officers behaved in a very professional manner.”
“On the basis of a written complaint by Stephenson, a trap was laid for Revanth and thus booked him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code. The crime was cognizable and non-bailable”, ACB added.
According to Khan, along with Revanth Reddy, the other three members Sebastian Harry, Uday Simha and Dushyanth met Stephenson at his residence carrying Rs.50 lakh as an advance, but the actual deal was finalized for Rs.5 crore.
Revanth eligible to vote
After the arrest of Revanth Reddy, there was a buzz in the media that, he might not be eligible to vote for the MLC elections which are going to be held on Monday. But, surprisingly, the court declared Revanth to vote and then to take him into police custody. Revanth would be under the police custody for the next 14 days.
It is known that on Saturday, Kukatpally TDP MLA, Madhavaram Krishna Rao joined the TRS party. Firstly, that was a big jolt to the TDP party and at this time, the arrest of a key leader of TDP, Revanth Reddy, has become a shock to the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.
Revanth’s arrest is a plus to TRS!
On the other side, the TRS leaders who are concentrating on the fifth MLC seat are leaving no stone un thrown to gain it. At this time, the arrest of Revanth can be considered as the major plus to the party. The TRS leaders are using this opportunity to target TDP, by giving the tight blows to the party through the media, regarding the Revanth’s arrest. But, the results can be known, once they are out after the elections.
