On investigating the mobile service providers of Telangana, SIT has confirmed that they tapped the phones of AP officials.
When the phone conversation tape of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana nominated MLA Stephenson, the AP officials took the issue serious and ordered for the inquiry about the phone tapping.
Regarding the issue, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquired five of the service providers on Monday and three of other service providers on Tuesday. On inquiry it was found that, tapping of phones was done. Upon inquiry of whose phones were tapped and since how many months, the officials found that the phones were tapped for the past two months. The service providers requested to provide time for revealing about whose phones were tapped.
Who ordered to tap the phones?
Along with this, the other important question, which the officials targeted at them was, who asked to perform the phone tapping? Answering to the question, the service providers said that, they performed it only as per the higher authorities order. Basing on this, the officials sent notices to the concerned higher authorities.
All recorded tapes into SIT custody.
The SIT officials took all the recorded tapes into their custody. Among the tapes, the conversation between Revanth Reddy and Stephenson was also found. The officials further ordered to provide all the recordings done for the past two months in the form of CDs. The second stage of investigation would start after 5 or 6 days, the report stated.
