Abhijit, a 20 year old engineering student and volleyball player from Hyderabad, lost his life in an accident and his organs saved five lives, after his death.
Abhijit, a resident of West Marredpally was travelling in a car at Kompally on Thursday night and faced a severe accident, in which he was brain was injured very severely. He was declared as brain dead on Friday. Dr. Narasimha Rao, VP (Medical Services), Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad said that, Abhijit had a lot of internal bleeding in the brain and that made him leave his life.

After knowing this, the Jeevandan officials contacted Abhijit’s father and mother Uday Kumar and Bhanumathi respectively, and with their consent Abhijit’s organs are used for donating to the needy.
“This organ donation happened because of the large-heartedness and understanding nature of the aggrieved parents. They wanted their son to live-on despite the abrupt end,” Dr. Swarnalatha, in-charge, Jeevandan, Telangana State said.
Beneficiaries of Abhijit organs
Abhijit’s heart was rushed to Fortis Malar Hospital in Chennai, in a special chartered flight. Hyderabad city police arranged a green corridor from Yashoda Hospital Secunderabad and because of this, the heart reached airport in just 26 minutes.
For a liver transplant surgery in Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Abhijit’s liver was found supportive.
Along with the above, one of the kidneys of Abhijit was used in NIMS and another was sent to Yashoda Hospitals. Abhijit’s corneas were donated to LV Prasad Eye Institute. On the whole, there are five people who are benefitted with Abhijit’s organs.
Donating the organs is the best thing we can give to our fellow human beings and it is good to know that, Hyderabad officials are very active in supporting these kinds of operations.
We are born with an ability of making someone live after we die, be proud of it. Avoid thinking before donating the organs.
