A chargesheet has been filed in the Acharya Nagarjuna University's, Rishiteshwari case that went earlier viral in the state. Anu college’s Principal Babu Rao, who had faced allegations in the case, is named as the accused 'A4' in the charge sheet.
The range of controversy, Rishiteshwari, a B.arch, student’s suicide created, cannot be forgotten by any AP official. After the girl’s suicide, to the shock, neither the government, nor the oppositions, reacted against the incident immediately.
The silence of the leaders, witnessed the influence of politics in the state. However, as the public started criticizing and pressure started increasing, the movement has started in the case.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu sent Ganta Srinivas Rao to the university and asked to inquire about the case.
Rishiteshwari, who is unable to tolerate the ragging of their seniors, committed suicide on July 14th, last year. As per her mentions in the diary, four students from the university, are arrested.
The government even conducted the investigation on Rishiteshwari suicide case, for two times, forming committee, for which Balasubramanyam, a retired IAS officer, was the head.
Though the investigation has continued for long, Babu Rao had not been arrested yet. Finally, after filing a charge sheet, two weeks back, upon the complaints of Rishiteshwari parents and other university students, even Babu Rao’s name is now considered as A4 in Rishiteshwari case.
Rishiteshwari was a minor, when she was ragged, and referring this, the charge sheet further demanded to include the sections of 7, 8, 11 and 12, which are the sections, related to sexual harassment on the minors.
On Monday, the court will decide whether to include the minor related sections in Rishiteshwari suicide case or not.
On the other side, a few questioned that, why Babu Rao was not arrested, even after including his name in the charge sheet. But denying all such allegations, the police said that, they are moving forward, only according to the charge sheet filed.
TDP government is already facing huge criticism, due to the recent call money and its influence would be greater in the coming days. So, in this situation, if the government is successful in providing a right justice to Rishteshwari, it would be a major plus, as the GHMC elections are upcoming.
