The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today called for bandh of colleges in Telangana, against Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the Hyderabad Central university (HCU).
Right from the day, HCU student, Rohith Vemula committed suicide, the issue kept on going viral, with the several biggies, like Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal etc, visited the campus.
When Rohith Vemula’s video was out, criticizing ABVP, it was then, the issue went more viral and public understood that, a tough rift is going on between ABVP and Dalit students of the University of Hyderabad.
Finally, after the interim V-C, Sri Vatsava recently convinced the students to resume the classes, and calmed down from the agitations, Rahul Gandhi’s second time visit, allegedly re-boosted the students, to take part in the agitation again.
Cornering Rahul for the same aspect, ABVP calls for a bandh of all the colleges in Telangana state.
Speaking on the issue, ABVP national executive member Kadiam Raju said, “ABVP strongly opposes the politicisation being done by Rahul Gandhi in Central University at a time, when peaceful atmosphere is returning in the university.”
Gandhi should stop the “politics over dead bodies” and help restore normalcy in the University, he said.
Just after a few minutes of Rahul Gandhi entered the HCU campus, last night, the call for the shutdown by ABVP came into the light.
“ABVP questions why he (Rahul Gandhi) did not console when Dalit women students died in a medical college in Chennai,” ABVP said in a statement.
