Those 3 ‘Reddies’ behind Kapu agitation!

What are the reasons behind turning the Kapus agitation, this range of viral? Is it Chandrababu Naidu alone, who should be cornered or any other leaders too? Here is a short analysis on the above questions.

The heat of Kapus is not just from one or two years, but has been continuing, since decades. Especially three leaders, who belong to ‘Reddy’ community are identified as the key ones, who are responsible for heating up Kapus reservation quota issue.

It is to be noted that, from 1910 to 1956, Kapus community was in BC itself. But the things started changing, after Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy turned as the Chief Minister of the state and took out Kapus from BC and marked them as OC.

But Damodaram Sanjeevaiah, who was against Neelam’s act, re-included Kapus into BC, after he turned as the Chief Minister in 1961. It would have been fair, if the issue was stopped then and there, without making any other amendments.

But Kaasu Brahmananda Reddy, who could not speculate that his decision that day would raise huge conflicts in the future, threw out Kapus from BC category again. This has severely disturbed that community members and several Kapus in those days, even lost their jobs because of the then CM’s decision.

If this was the case with Brahmananda Reddy, even other Chief Minister Vijayabhaskar Reddy was also one of the reasons for heating up Kapu agitation in the state.

In 1993, while few Kapu organizations went as a rally to meet him and seek to include Kapus into BCs, they are beaten up by the security. It was then, the issue invited several protests and agitations in the state.

They performed the indefinite fast and entire Coastal area was on high heat, at that time and the further proceedings, invited the release of ‘G.O 30’ in the state.

But as there is no such final solution regarding inclusion of Kapus in BCs, the protest is increasing day by day.
