Pakistan confirms intelligence sharing with India on terror attacks

Regarding the possible terror attacks in Gujarat during Maha Shivaratri festival, Pakistan has confirmed that it had shared intelligence with India.

When Pakistan Prime Minister's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz was questioned whether Pakistan had provided intelligence to India on impending terror strikes, he said, “Sharing of intelligence among various nations of the world is a routine practice and this happens around the world. However, this time it was somehow leaked to media. But this showed Pakistan's commitment to fight terrorism.”

Pakistan's National Security Advisor Lieutenant-General Naseer Khan Janjua passed on the intelligence warning, as per the reports of Indian media, to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval on Saturday, following which NSG special forces were deployed to Gujarat to back up the state police.

The officials had reportedly gathered the inputs from the intelligence that Pakistan would possibly perfom a 26/11 style fidayeen attack in the various parts of Gujarat, where the people are involved in Maha Shivaratri celebrations. It was after that, the officials have ordered for a massive mobilisation of state police personnel and National Security Guard.
