Reportedly, a fresh poster appeared in New Delhi, issuing the death threats to JNU Students Union Chief, Kanhaiya Kumar, along with Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, who are facing the sedition charges.

Earlier, there was a similar poster, which announced a reward of Rs. 11 lakh, to those who “shoots” Kanhaiya. Adarsh Sharma, who claimed to be the president of Purvanchal Sena, brought these posters out on March 7th. However, he was later landed in the jail after the incident.      

On March 7, Delhi Police arrested Adarsh Sharma, who claimed to be the president of Purvanchal Sena, which had put up posters announcing a reward of Rs 11 lakh for anyone, who “shoots” Kanhaiya.

An image of the poster was circulated on all the leading social networking sites, with a caption, claiming that a copy of it was spotted at Jantar Mantar. But the police team, as of now, found no such poster in the area.  

The poster said “to shoot the traitors of JNU is a Rashtradharm (national duty). I shall shoot Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and Kanhaiya.”

The poster has a name called Balbir Singh Bharatiya, who claimed to be a social worker and has been a part of the Anna Hazare-led movement against corruption.
It even included a phone number and also a man’s passport-size photograph.

Condemning Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal’s support to the JNU students, the poster also read, “I shall shoot all who celebrated the anniversary of Afzal Guru’s hanging... The country faces more threat from traitors than terrorists... Such traitors should face life imprisonment.”

Speaking on the issue, deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi), Jatin Narwal said, “We have initiated an inquiry into the matter.”

After the police found no poster at Jantar Mantar, the officials called up the phone number on it. The man who lifted the call, claimed that he runs a shop at Yamuna bazar and also said that he visited the area on Friday.  

However, his answers are found doubtful, when the officials asked, whether it was he, who pasted the poster. So the man is likely to be questioned soon again and many details are expected to be out from him.
