KCR slams HCU’s kiss festivals

Telangana Chief Minister KCR strictly raised his voice against ‘Kiss festivals’ being conducted in HCU (Hyderabad Central University).

Anticipating on the before hand, that he is anyway going to be shot with questions of HCU student Rohit Vemula suicide and JNU incidents, the intelligent CM, even raised his voice saying that, he did not come forward to respond on those issues, as he is against making narrow political gains, enhancing the already viral issue go more viral.

KCR further said that he had taken necessary measures to restore normalcy on the university campus.

CM said, speaking in the legislative assembly yesterday, that, universities should be the centres for excellence and education and not centres for anarchy.

“I was shocked to know that events like kiss festivals are being held in universities now. Is that correct? Does anybody accept that? Rohith and the JNU incidents are unfortunate. I strongly condemn them. But I don’t want to make an issue out of it by raking up this ‘ism’ and that ‘ism’,” he said.

The Telangana state government is in search of Vice Chancellor, who possess good character, integrity and values and only then it would appoint them for the universities, CM said.

“Some earlier V-Cs in undivided AP resorted to irregularities by making several appointments just before retiring. We have changed the Universities Act, according power to the state government to appoint chancellors and vice-chancellors. We took permission from the Governor, who used to be the chancellor of all the universities, for changing the Act to appoint pioneers in various fields as chancellors and highly qualified intellectuals as vice-chancellors to improve standards. The search committees have been constituted to identify such persons," Telanagna CM KCR said.
