PDP MLAs Unhappy in the delay in the formation of Govt in J&K

Some MLAs have expressed their unhappiness and told Mehbooba that the Governor taking political decisions that would impact PDP’s prospects in the long run. Many PDP MLAs have conveyed their displeasure to the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti over the delay in the government formation in J&K. MLAs told her to take a final call over government formation as the delay is politically hurting PDP.

“We have conveyed our reservations to the PDP president. Unfortunately, she is being ill-advised by some people who lost in the polls,’’ a PDP MLA said. Another MLA said, “We were given a mandate by voters to solve their problems, unfortunately, we have been unable to redress their grievances.’’

Mehbooba is in the mood to wait a while longer and even told some of her party members that if they are unhappy, they are free to leave the party. I do not mind fighting the elections alone, she said.

If I feel that Centre is working in the interest and welfare of the state, I will have no objection in forming the government, said Mehbooba Mufti.

“Mein jiddi nahin hoon. Agar mujhe laghta hai ki central government riyasat ki behtari ke liye kaam kar raha hai to mujhe sarkar bananey mein koi objection nahin hai (I am not adamant. If I feel that the Centre is working for the welfare of the state, I will have no objection in forming the government),” she told party workers after launching a membership drive here.

“However, if it is only for the sake of government formation, or to delay polls, or to provide some work to MLAs, let me make it clear that I am not ready,” she added.

“I can’t say when the government will be formed. The conditions being put forward are already in the common minimum programme. During the PDP-BJP rule, we did what we could do,” BJP’s state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna said.

Government of India (GoI) has reached out to Jammu with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley saying that the government stood by its commitment for the "equitable development" of the three regions -- Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh -- of the state.
