In Bengaluru, a doctor was driving a brand-new Mercedes yesterday, and mowed down a 52-year-old scooterist and injured four others, after ramming three cars and another two-wheeler in Jayanagar.
After ploughing into a tile-roofed house on Byrasandra Main Road, the Mercedes C-200 (KA-01-MR-9186) came to a halt. All residents of the house were away at the time of the accident. Police said that, the sedan is an auto-gear vehicle. In just 6 minutes, the horror took place over a 2 km stretch.
However, the initial tests performed on orthopaedician NS Shankar, 55, to know whether he was drunk or not, were inconclusive.

Sources said, the police have sent his blood samples to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory, to perform the further tests.
In the car, while Shankar was driving, his domestic help, Sarita and her two year old child were also present, and reportedly, the child suffered injuries.
Shankar, who is a resident of Vidyapeetha, near Banashankari I Stage, runs Siddhartha Clinic in Jayanagar IV Block, rammed a Maruti Swift near Ashoka Pillar, but did not stop the car. Moving towards Madhavan Park, Shankar turned left after the park and hit a two-wheeler and two cars - an Indica and a Zen.
