Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has finally announced Rajya Sabha nominees from his TDP as Union minister Y.S. Chowdary (Sujana Chowdary), industrialist and former minister from Kurnool T.G. Venkatesh and Suresh Prabhu as the third candidate from TD-BJP alliance.
Explaining about the reason behind opting Chowdary, Naidu said that, the former had fought against Telugu states bifurcation in Rajya Sabha, on every occasion. Moreover, to ensure the balance between the regions in the state, Chowdary, being from Rayalaseema, has been nominated, CM said.
There is no clarity on whether the TDP will support an independent to file papers today or not, hoping for a largescale shift of votes from YSRCP MLAs, who joined TDP. Reportedly, when Naidu consulted those MLAs, they did not have any clarity on fielding a 4th candidate.
It is known that, Vijay Sai Reddy is opted as the Rajya Sabha nominee from YSRCP. Referring to it, Naidu said that, Jagan Mohan Reddy is accused no.1 in all the corruption cases and Vijay Sai is in the second position. It seems, Jagan wants to send all the criminals to Rajya Sabha.
If there is no independent candidate, the elections that are scheduled to be held on June 11th, will be unanimous.
Coming to Telangana, CM KCR, as known, has nominated D. Srinivas and Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao (retd) for the two Rajya Sabha seats. The election in all certainty will be unanimous. All the nominated candidates will file their nominations today.
