Heavy Rains in Districts in Telangana

Several parts of Telangana witnessed Heavy rain on Sunday. Karimnagar district recording 22.4 cm rain in last 24 hours.

According to Met Department, heavy rain is indicated at isolated places across the State on Tuesday and Wednesday. Similarly, Ibrahimpatnam mandal recorded 19 cm rain and Korutla 12.9 cm. The entire Jagtial division recorded an average of 7.6 cm of rain during the period.

Around 17 mandals received excess rainfall and another 36 mandals received normal rainfall this season. However, rain in Mahamutharam, Chigurumamidi, Ramadugu, Pegadapalli mandals is in deficit.

Heavy rainfall was recorded in Mortad - 16 cm, Balkonda and Kammarpalle -14 cm each, Pochampad -12 cm, Velpur - 9 cm – all in Nizamabad district; Jagtial (Karimnagar) - 8 cm, Nandipet, Armur and Dichpalle - 8 cm each – all in Nizamabad; Dharpalle, Renjal and Nizamabad - 7 cm each – all in Nizamabad.

Jakranpalle, Machareddy, Bhimgal and Bodhan in Nizamabad and Nirmal in Adilabad - 6 cm each; Navipet, Makloor, Rudrur and Kotagiri in Nizamabad and Mustabad in Karimnagar - 5 cm each.

Several small and medium irrigation tanks in Kammarpally, Morthad and a few other mandals in Nizamabad district were seen overflowing. Official said the rainfall recorded on Sunday-Monday was the highest for 24 hours period during the last two years.

Meanwhile, water storage in Sriramsagar has reached 40 tmc ft with inflows recorded at 73,000 cusecs on Monday afternoon.

In Adilabad, a few places received moderate to heavy rainfall during the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on Monday, taking the cumulative rainfall in the district to excess of 36 per cent this season so far.
