New Services Launched by RTA

The RTA has been coming up with many new ideas for the help of people but many people had to face problems. After RTA offices have announced the booking of slots for various services, the number of bookings has increased compared to day one. 4000 slots were booked on day one while 14000 slots were booked by Thursday.

The driving license slots have been increasing day by day. Over 3,700 people booked their slots out of which 3,500 turn up for the test.

Around 4,000 people booked Learner’s Licence slots. For the learner’s license around 3000 people came to RTA office for the test.

However, many motorists complained that there were some problems with obtaining a duplicate registration certificate online.

“I paid all my monthly installments on a bank loan for the vehicle. I want a duplicate RC but the online process is giving problems. This is the situation since the last three days,” said Anudeep Singh, a motorist.

RTA officials said, “they are fixing problems one after the other and this would be solved as they are getting in touch with banks to give their mobile numbers.”

“The online system sends a message to the bank that the duplicate RC is being issued after completion of hypothecation. The problem arose as most banks gave only landline numbers,” said an official.

In another announcement the Telangana Transport Department who declared about the online services three days back has been facing troubleshoot in the servers. Several complaints were registered by the people that the RTA server was not responding.

The online services were opened for all those who are  seeking driving license (DL) renewal or change of address, or a spelling correction.

In one such incident, a student who was leaving for the USA for his future studies at the University of Michigan was confused when he tried to make a payment through Paytm gateway but was returned. The student tried again to Log in on August 4 to fix a slot and pay the fee of Rs. 850, but he was surprised when the system said that he already had a ‘live’ slot for August 3.

In another incident, Aarti Srimanth, wanted to surprise her husband tried to get her license renewed but faced trouble when she reached the RTA, Secunderabad. She was to stand in a queue but to her surprise, there was no separate queue for women and she had to stand for hours.

She said, “They should have had multiple counters to avoid confusion and people screaming at each other.”

There were many pros and cons in the system. In one incident a middle-aged housewife got her Learners’ Licence (LL) in no such time and was seen walking out of the office with a smile on her face.

“I did not have to speak to anyone at all. After booking my slot online, I took my test and in less than 30 minutes, I got my LL,” she said.

Transport Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Sultania was seen busy with Joint Commissioner-In-Charge of IT P. Venkateswarlu in a meeting.  Joint Commissioner, T. Raghunath, and City Road Transport Officers were busy in making a list of processes for the better RTA services. “We are on the right track. In a week or so, everything will be fine,” said Mr. Sultania.
