TS Secretariat to Get a New Design Worth Rs 1,200 Cr

Telangana state Secretariat is soon going to be shifted so that the existing four blocks (A, B, C and D) can be demolished and construction of a new Vastu-compliant Secretariat completed within a year.  In this regard, a road map has been planned for shifting TS Secretariat. This plan has been estimated to cost nearly Rs 1,200 crore.

Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma and senior officials from the General Administration Depart-ment and R&B met at the Secretariat on Monday to draw the road map. The departments will be shifted to BRK Bhavan and other government buildings in the city beginning December.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be laying the foundation stone in November. Mr Rao had rejected the U-shaped design which is similar to that of North Block-South Block in New Delhi with the Chief Minister’s Office in the middle submitted by noted architect Hafeez Contractor as it would require of the AP government to hand over its Secretariat blocks and involve higher project cost of over Rs 350 crore.
