Rath Yatra of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will commence on Thursday. The yatra will go throughout the city areas like Lohia Path, Gomtinagar, Gomtinagar Extension and Kanpur Road. This has led to an order to schools falling on the route to remain shut on Thursday.

Umesh Tripathi, district inspector of schools issued a circular on Wednesday. All the prominent schools like La Martiniere College, Loreto Convent, Study Hall, Seth MR Jaipuria Schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya, City Montessori School’s Gomtinagar branch and all other schools in Kanpur Road areas and Gomtinagar to remain closed.

The circular was issued to all the school principals in Gomtinagar area stated "the CM’s chariot for his much awaited Vikas Yatra will begin from La Martiniere ground and pass through VVIP guest house, 1090 crossing, CMS, Gomti Nagar, Manoj Pandey crossing, Patrakarpuram, Husadiya to Transport Nagar and Kanpur road via Shaheed Path, and will go till Unnao. Schools falling in these localities should remain closed."

The order said further that "schools must comply with the order, and in the case of non-compliance which will disrupt traffic and security arrangements, stringent action will be taken against the school."
