President-Elect Trump Calls Pakistan PM Sharif A “Fantastic Man”: Pakistan Government

According to a press release released by the Pakistan government United States President-Elect Donald Trump, while a telephonic conversation with the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said that he is ready to ‘play any role’ in solving problems between the two countries.

Press release said that Sharif had called Trump to congratulate him for winning the Presidential Election. It also said that the President-Elect has also praised Nawaz Sharif by saying that he is a ‘terrific guy’ and ‘has a very good reputation’.

According to the press release, Trump also said to Sharif that he felt that he was talking to a person he had known for long. He also said Sharif that Pakistanis ‘are one of the most intelligent people’. He has also told Sharif to feel free to call him even before assuming office on January 20.

The press release by the Pakistan’s Press Information Department also said that Trump has said that he would love to come to a ‘fantastic place of fantastic people’. He also said Nawaj Sharif to convey his message to the Pakistani people that they are amazing and Pakistanis he has known are exceptional people.

However, there is not a single official word about the conversation by the United States. Trump has always been anti-Pakistan during his promotions in the Presidential Election. The meaning Trump’s changed stance towards Pakistan according to the press release by the Pakistan government is still unclear.

United States and Pakistan are going through a period diplomatic tensions as Washington is not entirely satisfied with Islamabad’s work on taking action against the Haqqani Network. Recently Washington had also released a travel advisory for its people against all non-essential travel to Pakistan, which was raised by Islamabad with Washington and said that it could prove harmful for foreign investments in Pakistan.
