Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister on Tuesday visited the holy shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala.
"The temple management honoured the minister with a sacred silk cloth and laddu prasadam while priests showered him with blessings", a top temple official said. Rajnath Singh flew to Tirupati from Vijayawada last night on a 14-hour spiritual visit.
He stayed at Tirumala for an overnight halt and then paid his homage to Lord Sri Venkateswara at the shrine following a brief break at the guest house. He later left for New Delhi.
This is his second visit to the 2000-year-old hill temple. Earlier, the minister had worshipped on December 11, 2015. Tight security was arranged for Singh's visit in Tirumala.
