Telangana Chief Minister KCR surprised everyone after he offered gold worth Rs 5.5 crores to Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy last month. KCR who promised to offer gold after the formation of special state, kept his promise and offered the gold. As per the petition filed by an activist challenging about KCR offering gold, Hyderabad High Court issued notices to the Chief Minister.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter ordered notices on the petitions by Dalit activist Kancha Ilaiah and social activist G. Ramulu. It has been contended that the offerings made through Common Good Fund have been unconstitutional. The government defended that everything happened as per the rule after KCR has been criticised from all the corners for his offerings. All his recent offerings were made to fulfil his vow for a separate state of Telangana.
