An unusual equation has been devised by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi today, to describe the future of the country.
Modi launched the Integrated Case Management System (ICMS) in New Delhi – a step towards digitizing the Supreme Court. The system will allow the digital filing of cases in the Supreme Court, and allow litigants to access data and retrieve information online.
PM Modi launched the system in the presence of Chief Justice of India, Jagdish Singh Khehar, and Union Minister for Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Modi said, “IT + IT = IT, much to the bafflement of the audience, he was addressing at the launch of the Supreme Court’s new digital filing system. The PM then described what he meant: “Information technology + Indian Talent = India Tomorrow.”
The country needs to incorporate technology in a more collective manner, rather than in a step by step manner. The technology must be embraced by all sections of society for it to have the real benefit, said the PM.
Modi said, “Embracing technology cannot happen if only a few people are keen on it. The scale must be larger.”

He also addressed what he called the “mindset issue”. “Mindsets have to change, that will be the beginning. However much we automate things or introduce technology, if mindsets do not change nothing will happen.”

The PM quoted a common example in many households to explain his point. Modi said, “Even when we send someone an SMS, we later call them up asking ‘Did you get my SMS?’ This is what I mean when I say old mindsets need to change.” He further stressed about e-governance. Modi while explaining his vision said, “E-governance is easy, effective, and economical. It is also environment friendly. Paperless offices will benefit the environment.”
