BJP Prez Amit Shah To Meet Uddhav Thackeray Over Presidential Election:- According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officials, the party President Mr. Amit Shah is likely to meet ally Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray.
The main agenda of discussions would be around the upcoming Presidential election. The meeting is expected to take place on Sunday at the Thackeray residence, “Matoshri” in Bandra east. Shah will visit Mumbai on a three-day trip to celebrate the party’s three years in power at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting assumes significance for the BJP as the Shiv Sena is the most vocal critic of the party, the Prime Minister and also its Maharashtra alliance partner Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The BJP’s ally Shiv Sena, in an embarrassment for the ruling BJP, has joined hands virtually with the State Opposition parties. It demanded complete loan waiver for farmers and on other major issues confronting the state.
The BJP President is expected to appease Thackeray and ensure his support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in the upcoming presidential election. Even as the Shah-Thackeray ‘summit’ was announced on Thursday, the Shiv Sena fired missiles at neighboring Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is struggling with a farmers’ agitation.
Moreover, the Chouhan government’s refused to give permission to various opposition parties, including Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Gujarat reservations leader Hardik Patel, to meet the families of the victims killed in the recent police firing during the farmers’ agitation in Mandsaur. So, the Shiv Sena is upset with this fact.
On Thursday, the Sena opined in an edit in the party mouthpieces “Saamana” and “Dopahar Ka Saamana”. “This is wrong… If this continues, it could prove damaging for the country’s democracy.”
