DMK Wants Bharat Ratna For Karunanidhi:- DMK Chief M Karunanidhi passed away on August 7th and the whole country mourned his death. The DMK yesterday asked the Centre to confer the 94-year-old politician with the prestigious Bharat Ratna award which is the nation's highest civilian award. DMK wanted the award in recognition for his outstanding contribution to Indian politics. The five times Chief Minister has been laid to rest in Marina beach, Chennai on Thursday. The issue has been raised in the Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha by DMK MP Tiruchi Siva.
Tiruchi Siva called Karunanidhi the tallest leader of the country and he contributed 80 years of his life for public service and fought for the rights of the people. Karunanidhi gets a real tribute if the Bharat Ratna would be awarded for him. Several members in the house supported the argument. Karunanidhi made his mark in several fields along with politics. MK Stalin is all set to take the charge as DMK Chief soon.
