Rajiv Gandhi Remarks: Congress Wants Stringent Action on Narendra Modi:- Indian National Congress wrote to the Election Commission of India to take stringent action on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for violating the election code and making some deteriorating comments on former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Narendra Modi made comments that Rajiv Gandhi ended his life as Bhrashtachari No 1 (Corrupt number one). Congress called it an insult to the Bharat Ratna awardee. Congress wanted Election Commission to bar Modi from speaking in public rallies in the coming days. The Uttar Pradesh Congress penned a letter to the Election Commission yesterday.

Recently, the Election Commission issued a clean chit for Narendra Modi for violating election code six times. With Narendra Modi's comments on Rajiv Gandhi, the whole country and the opposition parties erupted against Modi. "Your father was termed 'Mr Clean' by his courtiers, but his life ended as bhrashtachari number 1 (corrupt number 1)," PM Modi had said at a rally in Uttar Pradesh. While Modi pointed about Rajiv Gandhi's Bofors scam, the Delhi High Court gave a clean chit in those days for Rajiv Gandhi. Several opposition parties condemned Modi's comments calling Rajiv Gandhi one of the best politicians of the country.
